PREPA WORKSHOP

More and more artistic courses are asking students to submit a complete dossier to entrance examinations for Swiss and European Schools of Applied Arts and High Schools.

Gilles Porret's prep workshop offers coaching for the preparation of a dossier and a presentation of candidacy to embark on a complete curriculum of the CFC or Bachelor type. The pupil is helped and followed in his research, in the constitution of his file and his speech. The prep workshop provides basic education and pre-training that takes into account the different objectives to be achieved. The orientations can be discussed beforehand with the student according to his capacities and his personal aspiration. The student will be able to refine his artistic and technical knowledge and orient himself appropriately towards the artistic career that corresponds to him.

Artistic news, visits to museums and cultural venues complete this workshop in a spirit of openness conducive to enriching the culture of students. All round tables, conferences, artist talk, ... of the CdAC gallery are offered to the student during his / her membership period.

At the end of the prep workshop, the student is able to:

• To be clear in its objectives and autonomous in its achievements

• To define his aptitudes and to formulate his intentions

• To have an analytical and argumentative spirit to appear before a jury

• To be critical of your own work

• To constitute a complete, coherent file adapted to the school competitions

• Build a portfolio adapted to the demands of schools

Presentation of the artist / professor

Gilles Porret was born in Neuchâtel and studied art at the Graduate School of Fine Arts in Geneva between 1982 and 1986 (HEAD). Since 1986, he continues his pictorial approach by developing a relevant and often playful reflection on his questions about color, monochrome and its surpassing. His works are part of public and private collections (museums, institutions, collectors). Regularly invited to present his work in Switzerland and abroad, he was rewarded very early by various distinctions, including the Federal Beaux Arts Scholarship (1987, 1992), the Berthoud Scholarship (1987, 1988), the Cultural Prize Manor in 1989.

As an artist-curator, in 1993 he co-founded In Vitro (showcase of contemporary art in Geneva with the artist Gianni Motti) and in 1999 hall-Palermo (contemporary art apartment where, for five years, they present 22 exhibitions). He travels to Iran and India for the colors. Also in New York, Brussels, Paris, Turin, Cologne, Venice, Guangzhou and Thailand for his artistic projects.

He made a career as a visual artist while keeping a foothold in teaching: first at the ESBA (1995-96), then at the Valais Cantonal School of Art (1997-2014). He has been responsible for several painting and drawing workshops in art schools in Switzerland. He is invited to art workshops in Switzerland and France. Gilles Porret has always been passionate about transmitting the practice of art through personalized teaching.
