Elisabeth Llach was born in Neuchâtel in 1970 to a German mother and a Catalan father. She graduated in 1995 from ECAL (Cantonal School of Art of Lausanne). The Woman takes a central place in the work of Elisabeth Llach where it questions the femininity and its identity. Inspired by the smooth images of magazines, art reproductions, she invents a feminine and animal world, between seduction and repulsion.

Her works address portraits of dominant but vulnerable women, elegant and tormented, cruel and tortured. Her universe does not search for reality, it is only her reflection. She says it herself "My work, like life, mixes horror and beauty." Her inspirations range from Bacon to Dürer or Goya.
