The Club of Contemporary Art presents an exhibition of Delphine Costier L'INSTANT PRESENT


For the exhibition "L'instant présent" at the CdAC, Delphine Costier introduces us to a serie of drawings and paintings on the theme of "Human Nature", as well as an animated series of drawings presented under the name "Sixty-five beats/minute.

The artist's questions relate to the relationship between man and the environment. This theme is omnipresent in the work of Delphine Costier. Thus, "Human Nature" is based on the nature of man and the way he evolves in his natural environment. To illustrate her point, the artist uses thousands of points on her paintings that symbolize human beings. Each point therefore has its history, its life course and its beliefs.

The project "Sixty-five beats/minute" compares global warming and reduced life expectancy of glaciers with human life. The artist presents a serie of sixty-five drawings, indigo watercolor on paper, which derives from a satellite image of the Aletsch glacier in Switzerland. Each drawing is a declination of this glacier in constant movement.



DELPHINE COSTIER

Delphine Costier was born in Lausanne in 1977, she lives and works today in Yverdon-les-Bains. She graduated in Visual Art at the School of Art of Valais in 1998. The artist then undertakes several trips to England and Asia to enrich her training and try various artistic techniques. Back in Switzerland, the artist's work naturally turns towards painting and drawing, in an approach in perpetual questioning about her environment.

Awards and Grants: Sandoz - Family Foundation in 2014, the City of Montreux in 2008 and finalist of the FEMS Prize, Sandoz - Family Foundation in 2007. She exhibits regularly in Switzerland and abroad.
